Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 8 to 10 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes

Servings: 4 salmon filets

Cuisine: Pacific Northwest
Course: Main Course

Serve With: Asian sticky rice and baby carrots

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup real maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 teaspon garlic-shallot puree or 1 clove chopped garlic

Directions:

  1. Prepare the grilled salmon marinade by mixing the maple syrup, soy sauce and garlic puree in a mixing bowl.
  2. Place rinsed, thawed and patted dry salmon in a large casserole dish and top with the grilled salmon sauce marinade. Marinate 15 minutes and turn. Marinate another 15 minutes.
  3. To grill salmon, preheat grill to high. Spray grill with cooking spray. Place the salmon on the grill and grill a 3-4 minutes on each side. Thicker salmon fillets may need about 5 minutes on each side.
  4. Brush with more of the marinade while grilling. Look for the opaque juices running from the fish. It's a good indication that the fish is done.
  5. For a baked salmon, place the marinated salmon, with all of its sauce, in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 15 minutes. Spoon some of the sauce over the fish one or twice while it is baking.
Chef Jason's Notes: Grilling salmon doesn't have to be intimidating. This delicious maple-glazed grilled salmon recipe tastes just like the cedar grilled salmon recipes you'll find in nice seafood restaurants. Though you don't need a cedar plank to prepare this easy grilled salmon, you can certainly use one. If so, just place the marinated salmon onto a soaked cedar plank and then cook on the grill.
