Sharpening Stone

Directions:

1. Set your stone on a wet paper towel or dish towel. This keeps it from moving around while you sharpen.

2. Coat the stone with a little bit of water, then place the tip of your knife on the stone at a 20 degree angle.

3. Run the knife along the length of the stone from tip to heel. Turn the knife over and repeat the same process.


Do you have a lot of dull knives around the house? To bring back that edge to my knife, I like use a sharpening stone. There are several types of sharpening stones out there, but I prefer the water stone for its ability to but a nice edge on your blade.

Depending on how dull your blade is, you may need to do this quite a few times. Repeat the sharpening process about once a month.

Sharpening stones range in price from $10 to $100. In addition to a knife steel, it's one of the most important kitchen tools you can buy.
